We’re in the news again! An in-depth article on how Buffalo Manufacturing Works is helping manufacturers in different industries innovate made the front page of The Buffalo News on June 16, 2016. We had a great time talking to reporter David Robinson about the new equipment that we are installing on a regular basis to support our technology focus areas and how we are continuing to build our team to help our clients manufacture products faster, better and more cost-effectively.
Buffalo, NY – EWI is growing its team at Buffalo Manufacturing Works with the addition of Daniel Kmiotek. Kmiotek will support the organization’s materials & testing technology focus area as a metrology technician. Buffalo Manufacturing Works is committed to helping manufacturers grow and compete with access to the world’s best engineers, technicians and scientists.
Kmiotek comes to the team with more than 20 years of experience in materials engineering and previously worked at Praxair and Delphi Corp. His background includes a variety of metallographic sample preparation methods and the operation of inspection instrumentation and techniques such as scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, and optical microscopy.
“As EWI and Buffalo Manufacturing Works continue to build our technical capabilities, it’s critical that we have the right people on our team to work with the leading edge equipment we are adding to our facility,” said Michael Ulbrich, President of Buffalo Manufacturing Works. “The addition of Daniel to our team will help us take our materials and testing technology focus area to the next level by helping manufacturers develop, test and implement advanced manufacturing technologies.”
Since opening in April 2015, Buffalo Manufacturing Works has nearly doubled its fulltime staff to 15 people. In its first year of operation, Buffalo Manufacturing Works has engaged with more than 50 companies, started 35 projects and has had more than 2,000 visitors. It is a project of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Buffalo Billion initiative.

We’ve had thousands of visitors during our first year of operation at Buffalo Manufacturing Works. If you haven’t had a chance to check us out yet, it’s worth watching a piece that WGRZ photojournalist Nate Benson put together for his Innovate WNY series. We’re proud of our “marvel of modern technology” as Nate calls us and the work we are doing to help manufacturers of all sizes and in all industries innovate and grow.
