Modeling of heat generation during plastic welding can save time and money in product development. EWI has developed an approach for spin welding, which shows good correlation to experimental results.  This work is described in FEA Modeling of Heat Development in Spin Welding, a paper by Miranda Marcus and Tom Feister. A similar approach can be applied to any plastic welding process.
