Robotic directed energy deposition technology offers a robust, multi-faceted process for building and repairing large-scale components. EWI is currently involved in a broad research program to mature DED technology for use in the aerospace, energy, defense, shipbuilding, and heavy manufacturing industries. As part of this effort, EWI has a installed a Cloos robotic DED system for research and development projects to evaluate and qualify DED processes for manufacturing implementation.

The unique and versatile capabilities of the system are outlined in Developing Robotic DED Technology: A New Manufacturing Resource, written by EWI associates Dennis Harwig and Nick Kapustka. You are invited to view this paper, at no charge, by completing the form on this page.

If you would like to learn more about robotic DED  and how EWI can help you implement this high-impact technology, contact Nick Kapustka at [email protected].
