Tests for Polymer Integrity within Hydrogen Delivery Systems
In the new hydrogen economy, all materials – including polymers – will need to be qualified for use in an H2-rich environment. Hydrogen can quickly absorb into plastic seals, gaskets, and non-metal pipes to cause damage and even danger.
EWI has developed new screening tests for detecting polymer material weaknesses that can result from hydrogen contact. Screening Tests for Elastomers in the Hydrogen Economy, written by Senior Technology Leader Jeff Ellis, discusses the results and future work planned for test development.
